BLUE VELVET CAKE
INGREDIENTS:
- ½ cup butter
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 ounce blue food color (2tbsp)
- 2 drops violet gel paste food color
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
INSTRUCTIONS:
* Preheat oven to 180 degrees
* Grease and flour 3 8-inch round cake pans.
* Cream together butter sugar and eggs.
* Make a paste of food coloring and cocoa and add to mixture.
* Add salt and flour with buttermilk and vanilla.
* Alternately add soda and vinegar; just blend, don’t beat hard.
* Bake 25 minutes.
* Cool cake thoroughly before frosting.
