Authentic German Bratwurst

 

Authentic German Bratwurst 🇩🇪

Ingredients:

- 2 pounds ground pork
- 1/2 cup ice water
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon ground caraway seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- Hog casings (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, ice water, salt, pepper, coriander, caraway seeds, nutmeg, and cloves. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
2. If using hog casings, soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes before using.
3. Stuff the pork mixture into the hog casings, using a sausage stuffer or a piping bag fitted with a large tip.
4. Twist the casings to create individual bratwursts.
5. Grill or pan-fry the bratwursts over medium heat until cooked through and slightly browned.
6. Serve with your favorite sides, such as sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, or German potato salad.
