Homemade Turtle Candy with Pecans and Caramel
Ingredients:
4 ounces pecan halves
24 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon shortening
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick spray.
Arrange 3 pecan halves in a "Y" shape on the cookie sheet. Place 1 caramel in the center of each "Y." Repeat with the remaining pecans and caramels.
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, until the caramel is melted.
Meanwhile, heat chocolate chips and shortening in a saucepan over low heat until melted.
Spoon melted chocolate over the candies and refrigerate for 30 minutes, or until set.
