#### 1. **Bake the Cake:**
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line two 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pans.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour with baking powder.
- Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth.
- Divide batter evenly between the two pans.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cakes cool completely.
