Chocolate Cinnamon Rolls
A perfect indulgent treat, these soft and gooey chocolate cinnamon rolls combine the warm, comforting flavors of cinnamon with the rich decadence of chocolate. Ideal for breakfast or dessert, they’re easy to make and absolutely delicious!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups warm milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
Directions:
In a bowl, combine warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and cinnamon. Add the yeast mixture, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and roll it out into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
In a small bowl, mix together cocoa powder, brown sugar, and chocolate chips. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dough.
Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice into 12 even pieces.
Place the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before drizzling with a simple glaze (optional) or icing.
