Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy
Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy

Ingredients:
For the Hamburger Steaks:
1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg
¼ cup breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1–2 tablespoons oil for frying
For the Onion Gravy:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Make the Hamburger Steaks:
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until just combined.
Divide mixture into 4 equal patties and shape into oval "steaks."
2. Cook the Steaks:
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add hamburger steaks and cook 4–5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through.
Remove steaks and set aside. (They'll finish in the gravy later.)
3. Make the Onion Gravy:
In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until onions are soft and golden, about 8–10 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over onions and stir for 1 minute to cook off the raw taste.
Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Combine and Finish:
Return hamburger steaks to the skillet with the gravy. Cover and simmer on low for 5–10 minutes to meld flavors and heat through.

Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles
Add green beans or steamed veggies for a full meal.~~
