Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in boiling water (the batter will be thin).
Divide the batter evenly between the pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let the cakes cool completely.

In a bowl, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Mix in heavy cream and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.

Heat heavy cream until just boiling, then pour over chocolate chips. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.

Spread a layer of buttercream between the two cake layers. Frost the outside of the cake with the remaining buttercream.

Pour the ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or chips for extra flair.
This rich, chocolate-filled cake is perfect for chocoholics and special occasions!
