Homemade Apple Cinnamon Delight

Ingredients (Serves 4-6)
For the Apple Cinnamon Base:
4 medium apples, peeled and chopped (use Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
2 tbsp unsalted butter
⅓ cup brown sugar (adjust for sweetness)
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg (optional, for warmth)
½ tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup water or apple cider
1 tsp lemon juice (to balance flavors)
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening, if needed)
Optional Add-ins:
¼ cup raisins or chopped pecans
A pinch of cloves or ginger for extra spice
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Apples
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir well.
Step 2: Simmer to Perfection
Pour in water (or apple cider) and lemon juice. Let it cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft.
Step 3: Thicken the Mixture (If Needed)
If you want a thicker consistency, mix cornstarch with water and stir it into the apples. Cook for 2 more minutes until the sauce thickens.
Step 4: Add Final Touches
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. If using raisins or nuts, add them now.
