Red Velvet Cookies – A Sweet Treat for Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients:

For the Cookies:

1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon red food coloring
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

For Decoration:

12-15 white chocolate hearts (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions:

Prepare the Dough:

In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing until fully combined.
Mix Dry
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Shape the Cookies:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll them into balls, and place them on the baking sheet, spacing them evenly.

Bake:

Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool for 2 minutes.

Add the Chocolate Hearts:

While the cookies are still warm, gently press a white chocolate heart into the center of each cookie. Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack, allowing the chocolate to set.

Decoration Tips:

Arrange the cookies on a white plate or serving tray to make the red velvet color pop.
Add a light dusting of powdered sugar around the edges for an elegant touch.
Place a few extra white chocolate hearts on the serving platter for a decorative and thematic look.
Pair these cookies with a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate for a cozy and delightful treat.
Happy Baking
